Victorian Diamond Ring - 22k Antique Engagement Ring, 1870, Old Cut Diamond

A unique Victorian 22k Gold Old Cut Diamond and Spinel ring. Size 9 in USA.A stunning very collectible and completely unique antique gold ring. This ring is from the Victorian era and has two small old mine cut Diamonds set into 22k gold band with a central round faceted pink Spinel. The mount of the ring has scrollwork decoration with the edge of the band having engraved detailing and graduated dimples to either side. The Diamonds and Spinel gemstone are set in a star setting. Would make a beautiful Antique Engagement Ring. This beautiful Victorian ring is fully hallmarked with the British hallmark and head of Queen Victoria and dated 1870.  Considering this ring is over a 140 years old it is in remarkable condition especially with 22k gold being much softer and more prone to wearing. This said the back of the gold band has the telltale signs of 22k gold and its age but with the important mount being pristine and crisp. These Diamonds are hand cut and have a high table. The color of the pink Spinel looks very similar to Ruby and in fact only the trained eye would see the difference. In the Victorian era Red to Pink Spinel was often mistaken as Ruby and even in the Crown jewelers there is a Spinel which was always known as a Ruby until recently as we are now able to distinguish between Spinel and Ruby. This also applies to blue Spinel and Sapphire as well. For the condition being so good the owner of this ring has taken very good care of the ring and it is now looking for a new owner to hopefully pass down the generations as a family heirloom. I will deliver this ring in a new box and antique style box.
