This is an absolutely stunning and VERY rare, Victorian lucky horseshoe ring, it features 5 genuine rubies and 6 irregular rose cut diamonds. Both the rubies and the diamonds are foiled and they have gorgeous glow in person, the rubies are burgundy with hot pink flashes and the diamonds have a silver glow.
Foiling gemstones was a trend during the Georgian and early Victorian eras. Foiling a gemstone is when you take a gem and instead of setting it with an open back, you set it with a closed back over a precious metal foil, this gives the foiled stone a unique "glow" and shine.
ORIGINAL Victorian lucky horseshoe rings are almost impossible to find as they are highly collectable and sell very quickly. You will not be disappointed in this ring, it would make the perfect gift for any collector of antique rings or lover of equine themed jewellery.
This ring could even be a great choice for a fun engagement ring as the symbolism is great, lucky horseshoe for luck, rubies for passion, diamonds for constancy.
Materials: 14k gold, 5 rubies, 6 rose cut diamonds.
Era: Early Victorian, circa 1850s.
Condition: Very good antique, the gemstones have some wear but this is to be expected with gems that are circa 150+ years old, the ring band is in excellent condition.
