This beautifully crafted ring is made from solid sterling silver. One of my favourite traditional silver-working techniques is granulation and this ring has been designed to to use this beautiful art form to delicately frame a colourful ruby zoisite gemstone. Small silver dots follow the curve of the gemstone at the top and bottom of the ring and have also been used on the ring band to create a very pretty and ornate effect. The ring band is finished with a small silver and brass detail at the back. Granulation is a technique of carefully placing by hand, individual small silver balls, discs, wire and other shapes, onto a silver surface. The silver is then oxidised, to create a darker background and the small shapes are polished to highlight the design.All fabriika designed rings are made by experienced silversmiths, in a small family-run workshop in India. I enjoy working closely with the silversmiths to create unique pieces of jewellery. Gemstone rings in my collection are one-only pieces, as I select the gemstones and then create the setting around them.
