This specific piece used in this ring comes from the Mundarara Mine, near Longito, Tanzania, where the tanzanite was originally discovered in 1954. A polished oval cabochon of translucent ruby, the ruby-red variety of the mineral species conundum, in translucent green zoisite with specks of black tschermakite was hand set in a high profile bezel mounting entirely handcrafted in solid 925 sterling silver.
